Setting up shop

Started setting up the layout and putting items on the shelves today. Also getting closer to organizing our workshop at the shop. Projected opening is to be before St. Patrick's Day. If you're looking to apply for crafter's rental space, do it soon, we're getting closer to the opening date and would like to have a lot of support from the local arts and crafts crowd. We've got a lot of retail gift items that will be priced to sell just to give us a starting inventory but, once they are gone, we will be devoted to handmade crafts only. Looking forward to seeing a lot of customers and support from the community.

Closer yet

Another load taken. Our little rebuilt trailer is really coming in handy. Moved in some workshop equipment and office supplies today. Did some brainstorming with our nephew who is working on his business degree today also. Went over some ideas for promoting our business and goals to get us off the ground and bringing in customers and other artists. Also put up a little display in the front window to attract attention and draw pedestrians in.

Ever closer

Another day of hauling stuff to the shop is done. Growing ever closer to opening shop. I think we might finally have all the shelves and displays we have moved in and almost all of the retail gift items that we already have down there also. Now, the next big step is figuring out the layout. I  think we are planning to make one of the walls a pegboard display for larger hanging items. That will be the next big chore. after that it's mainly getting our workshop area set up and moving the majority of our craft supplies and materials in. We are almost ready to go.

Almost there

Hauled in another load of retail items and big stuff to the shop today. Most importantly, the very heavy checkout counter. Cassandra and I got it onto the trailer fairly easily at the house. But, thankfully we didn't have to touch it unloading at the shop.We are moving in next to a bar and grill so I went in and hired a few guys for five bucks each to land a hand. hey came out and just grabbed it right out of the trailer before I even had a chance to help with it. Had it in the door in under a minute. Money well spent. Tomorrow we start hauling raw material and supplies and are that much closer to getting set up and the grand opening.

Alright, alright, alright. Update on storefront proceedings. Water is on and it is Hot, gas is on and the furnace is up and running. New toilet, fixed bathroom drain and new sink faucet in the kitchenette. Carpets have been vacuumed and cleaned and have started moving shelves and retail items over from the house. Have a lot more stuff to move in this weekend and hope to start setting up soon for the grand opening. Oh yeah,, and my beard is a little blue from spray painting a few shelves this afternoon, HAHAAA...

Ready to go

The shop is cleaned up, repairs have been made, gas line passed inspection. Picking up the keys and beginning the move tomorrow. We're running our own shop....WOOHOO...

Preparing to open shop

Alllriiighty then,,, Seekers of the Road, LLC is officially an entity... Getting everything in order and, hopefully, opening up shop here in Pittsburg KS beginning in March.
